Belarus wants to sell 51% stake in Russia’s MTS local unit in ‘15
MINSK, Mar 13 (PRIME) -- The Belarussian state property committee will try to sell in 2015 shares of more than 60 enterprises, including a 51% stake in a joint venture with Russian mobile operator MTS, it said in a statement on Friday.
The committee did not release preliminary conditions of the sale.
In February, the committee’s Chairman Andrei Gayev, said Belarus would continue trying to sell its stake in MTS’s local branch.
Belarus has failed to sell 51% in MTS’ branch for several years. The Belarusian government initially insisted on the minimum price of U.S. $1 billion, but later decreased it to $863 million.
